I finished an associate of arts degree in 1977 and I went to Belhaven in 98 to finish my last two years. I did two years there and graduated with my BBA in 2000 and then I went on to theological seminary for 2 ½ years, and two years ago started on my MBA at Belhaven.
The format of the program definitely worked strongly to my advantage because I work in the governor’s office until 5:30 or 6, and the program starts at 6, so I was right there....The focus on Christian principles was the most important to me, and I just had excellent professors there. I know they pull some from the community, and that’s great, too. I was drawn to the fact that they have a strong faculty.
I think it’s made me more aware of what transpires on the management level. Dr. Mason taught one of our first classes and it talked about things like the proposal or RFP process and also the importance of administrations and management having emergency programs in place. We’ve seen so much of that, of course, and it just prepared me for a lot of things I hadn’t given a lot of thought to in the past.
